About Paywall Remover
A transparent, privacy-first tool for finding legitimate public and licensed routes to an article — built by people who think honesty about the limits is the whole point.

Why We Built It
Article access is scattered. The publisher has the authoritative version, a public archive may hold an earlier state, a library you already fund may licence the whole publication, a repository may host the author's own manuscript, and a search index may know about an authorised reprint. Checking all of that by hand takes far longer than reading the article would.
Paywall Remover collapses that first step into one paste. It does not decide what you are entitled to read; it lays out every legitimate route so you can pick the one that applies to you.
How It Actually Works
The site is intentionally static. There is no account system, no database, no hidden proxy, and no scraping backend. When you submit a URL, JavaScript running in your own browser validates it, extracts the hostname, and assembles nine outbound query links.
Nothing is transmitted to us at any point in that process. The first network request to any third party happens when you choose to click one of the generated routes, and at that moment you are simply visiting that service directly.
The Line We Will Not Cross
There is a meaningful difference between finding content that is already lawfully public and circumventing a technical measure that protects content that is not. Public discovery is the first; credential spoofing, script stripping, and paywall circumvention are the second.
We build only the first. When a publisher genuinely withholds the article body from unauthenticated readers, the correct answer is a subscription, a library entitlement, an institutional login, or an authorised copy — and we say so rather than shipping something that quietly fails.
Our Privacy Position
A reading helper has no legitimate reason to want your publisher password, your session cookie, your payment details, or permission to read every site you visit. We ask for none of it, because we never needed any of it.
The only data the site keeps is your recent-lookup list, stored in localStorage on your own device and erased by the Clear button. No cookies, no analytics, no advertising scripts, no third-party fonts.
What We Optimise For
Transparent by Default
Every limitation is stated on the page where it matters, not buried in a footer.

No account, no paid tier, no upsell, and no feature held back behind an email form.
Pro-Journalism
We point readers toward subscriptions and library licences, because reporting has to be paid for.
